Senior Design Engineer – Packaging Design
The Senior Design Engineer – Packaging Design utilizes advanced CAD tools and related engineering software to support the development of primary packaging components, including PET bottles, preforms, closures, and associated systems. This role focuses on high-quality design execution, simulation modeling, prototyping readiness, and cross-functional technical support. In addition to producing 2D drawings, 3D models, and renderings, the Senior Design Engineer applies simulation tools to validate and optimize designs. The role also provides technical support to other departments and assists plant teams on an as-needed basis, contributing strong engineering expertise while partnering closely with Prototyping, Packaging Execution, Raw Materials, and Product Development.
Essential Functions
+ Create and refine 3D bottle and preform designs using SolidWorks.
+ Produce 2D drawings and support manufacturability reviews.
+ Establish and execute FEA simulations and molding simulation workflows.
+ Collaborate with Prototyping, Raw Materials, and Packaging Execution teams.
+ Support line trials, testing, and validation.
+ Prepare technical documentation and maintain CAD organization.
+ Manage scoped engineering tasks and mentor junior engineers.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
+ 4+ years relevant experience in packaging or mechanical design.
+ Proficiency in SolidWorks and FEA (e.g., Ansys, Ls Dyna)
+ Understanding of mechanical fundamentals (e.g., stress-strain) and PET material behaviors
+ Exposure to molding fundamentals.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in engineering
+ Experience with design of HDPE/PP injection‑molded closures.
+ Simulation and line trial experience
+ Exposure to simulation-driven design optimization

Education
+ Minimum Required:
+ Bachelor's Degree In Engineering or any related discipline of engineering, or the equivalent in combined education and considerable experience in a similar field, may be considered equivalent.
+ Preferred:
+ Master's Degree in Engineering or any related discipline of advanced Engineering.

Pay Rate Type: Salary
$111,766.36 - $159,267.07 / Yearly
