    This position performs advanced accounting work to support PERA’s financial operations and reporting, including reconciling activity across multiple systems, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with state requirements. The role also adjusts member accounts for returned or rejected benefit payments and provides essential backup support for payroll, expense reimbursement, and accounts receivable processes. The position works independently with a high degree of discretion and continuity of operations and is well suited for someone who values meaningful work, autonomy, and a collaborative accounting team.

     

    This position is telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) eligible and offers a hybrid work schedule which may include telework up to 50% of the scheduled workdays each month, based on agency and department needs and other dependencies. Scheduled in-office work days are at PERA’s office building in St. Paul, Minnesota.

     

    Candidates located outside the state of Minnesota and more than 50 miles from PERA’s St. Paul office are not eligible to telework and would be required to report to the office full-time.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Three (3) years of professional-level accounting, financial operations, or accounts receivable experience.

     

    _*A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience._

    _Experience_ **_must clearly demonstrate_** _the following:_

    + Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal control practices.

    + Experience working with accounting or CRM systems and the ability to analyze, reconcile, and interpret financial data.

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex financial discrepancies.

    + Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills for interacting with members, employers, state agencies, and financial institutions.

    + Ability to establish positive working relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues, members, and external partners.

    + Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Outlook and Word

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

    + Experience reconciling financial data across multiple systems, including pension administration systems and bank records.

    + Experience processing recurring payroll transactions and business expense reimbursements.

    + Experience recovering overpayments or working with revenue recapture processes.

    + Experience with the State of Minnesota’s accounting system (SWIFT) and/or payroll system (SEMA4).
