Overview
This is a newly created position at Gentiva Hospice designed to support regional operations. The **Vice President of Finance** will provide leadership for the **Frontier Region.**
The **VP Finance** serves as the senior financial leader for a multi-state hospice region, providing strategic financial oversight, operational partnership, and fiscal discipline to ensure sustainable growth, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care.
This role will act as a trusted advisor to regional leadership, balancing financial stewardship with Gentiva’s mission to deliver compassionate, high-quality hospice care.
Essential Functions of Position
+ Serve as the senior financial partner to regional, group, and area leadership, translating financial performance into actionable insights.
+ Lead regional financial strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals, growth plans, and patient care priorities.
+ Provide financial leadership for new programs, de novos, acquisitions, and market expansion initiatives within the region.
+ Oversee the annual budgeting for the Region. Supports Corporate Finance with rolling forecasts.
+ Monitor regional financial performance against budget and forecast, proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
+ Partner with operations and clinical leadership to optimize labor, productivity, and cost structures while maintaining quality of care.
+ Provide financial analysis and decision support related to census trends, case mix, length of stay, staffing models, and service utilization.
+ Support leaders in understanding financial drivers and making informed, data-driven operational decisions.
+ Oversee regional financial performance related to cap management, and revenue integrity.
+ Partner with compliance, billing, and clinical leadership to ensure adherence to hospice regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
+ Monitor financial risk related to audits, TPE reviews, and reimbursement changes, escalating concerns as appropriate.
+ Ensure accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting for regional leadership and enterprise stakeholders.
+ Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance leaders.
+ Present regional financial results, trends, and recommendations to executive leadership.
+ Ensure strong financial controls and adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and internal governance requirements.
+ Lead, develop, and mentor regional finance team members, fostering a high-performing and service-oriented finance function.
+ Promote financial acumen and accountability across operational leadership teams.
+ Manages special projects and other duties as assigned.
+ Travel up to 25%
About You
Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
+ Deep expertise in hospice reimbursement, cap management, and Medicare regulatory requirements.
+ Proven ability to scale financial operations in high-growth, multi-market environments, including de novos and acquisitions.
+ Advanced skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to support rapid growth and changing census dynamics.
+ Strong understanding of clinical and operational drivers of financial performance (census, LOS, staffing, productivity).
+ Experience identifying and mitigating financial, reimbursement, and operational risks in regulated healthcare settings.
+ Experience presenting financial results, risks, and recommendations to senior and executive leadership.
+ Strong judgment and discretion when navigating sensitive financial and operational matters.
+ Proficiency with financial systems, analytics, and performance dashboards to drive timely decision-making.
Education/Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
+ 10+ years progressive finance leadership experience in a multi-state healthcare organization; strong preference for experience in home-based care.
+ Proven ability to partner with senior leaders and manage complex regional P&Ls.
+ Strong analytical, leadership, and executive communication skills.
Training/Equipment:
+ Strong computer skills; excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
+ Experience with financial planning and analysis software and business intelligence platforms is useful
