Job Summary
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
To monitor and operate a computerized utility management system to control heating, ventilation, air conditioning and other utility systems.

Responsibilities*
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Operate the computerized utility management console and initiate corrective action for all alarm indications and other malfunctions.
+ Monitor and evaluate the operation of a computerized utility management system.
+ Maintain logs and records on utility system operations.
+ Review reports on system operations and performance to ensure optimum efficiency.
+ Advise staff on shut down and start up activities and coordinate equipment maintenance and repair activities.
+ Assist in modifying computer programs to initiate system changes to operating parameters.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
+ General supervision is received from a designated official.
+ May receive direction from Utility Systems Technician II’s and/or Utility Systems Technician – Health Systems.
Required Qualifications*
+ Graduation from high school, supplemented by two years of technical course work or training on electronics, computer operations or instrumentation systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
+ Some knowledge of the operation and maintenance of automated heating, ventilation and air conditioning control systems is necessary.
+ Some experience in maintaining logs and records for utilities systems is desirable.
+ Some computerized utility systems operation experience is desirable.
Work Schedule
Once training is complete, the work schedule will be Wednesday - Saturday 8:30pm - 6:30am

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the International Union of Operating Engineers, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
