    Position Overview

    We’re looking for a Firewatch Technician to support hot‑work activities across vessels, dry docks, and multiple shipyard locations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining safety by keeping watch over welding, cutting, grinding, and any tasks that generate sparks, ensuring potential hazards are identified and mitigated before they become incidents.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Actively observe hot‑work operations to identify and report fire risks.

    + Maintain a safe workspace aboard ships, within dry docks, and throughout the yard.

    + Serve as the first line of prevention during welding, cutting, grinding, and other heat‑producing processes.

    + Support teams by ensuring compliance with safety protocols and emergency procedures.

    Required Skills & Experience

    + Proven Firewatch or hot‑work monitoring experience.

    + Experience in shipyard labor, marine maintenance, or industrial repair environments.

    + Working knowledge of marine systems, troubleshooting methods, engines, motors, and general mechanical repair.

    + Active Secret Security Clearance (must already possess).

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Hands‑on experience with valve repair.

    + Mechanical aptitude specific to ship repair or maritime operations.

    Work Environment

     

    This role is based at the Bangor Submarine Base and involves working in a highly secure, dynamic, and technically demanding naval shipyard environment

    This is a Contract position based out of Silverdale, WA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
