Job Title: General Production Worker** **Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated General Production Worker who will be considered for a future Slitter Operator role. This position involves working in a team of 3 to 4 members, assisting additional packers, and participating in the loading and unloading of machinery. You will be responsible for quality checking steel during and after processing, using measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Additionally, you will handle the shipping and receiving of materials and ensure safe operations within the facility.

Responsibilities

+ Assist in future slitter operator tasks with provided training.

+ Work collaboratively in a team of 3 to 4 members.

+ Assist additional packers as needed.

+ Load and unload machinery.

+ Conduct quality checks on steel during and after processing.

+ Utilize measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

+ Handle shipping and receiving of material in the facility.

+ Move material around the facility.

+ Maintain a safe working environment.

Essential Skills

+ Basic machine operation knowledge.

+ Experience in manufacturing environments involving presses, steel, and large machinery.

+ Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

+ Capability to read a tape measure to 1/16 inch.

+ Proficiency in hand tool and power tool usage.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with overhead cranes.

+ Prior experience as a slitter operator.

+ Forklift operation skills.

+ Experience working with steel.

Work Environment

You will be working in a clean steel environment with approximately 40 to 50 team members. The facility is well-lit and equipped with newer machinery. Shift times are 6-2, 2-10, and 10-6, with a standard 40-hour workweek and voluntary overtime. Personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, arm sleeves, hearing protection in certain areas, high visibility vests, and steel toe shoes are required. The company provides uniforms to employees.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Butler, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
