    About the Opportunity

     

    We are seeking passionate and dedicated Moderate/Severe Special Education Teachers to support students with moderate to severe disabilities across K–12 settings for the 2026–2027 school year.

     

    Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, you will play a key role in delivering individualized instruction, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting students’ academic, functional, and life-skills development in a structured, supportive classroom environment.

     

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

     

    + Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families and the special education team

    + Provide specialized instruction to students with moderate to severe disabilities across K–12

    + Design lessons that align with or parallel the general education curriculum, when appropriate

    + Serve as the primary coordinator for IEP implementation with general education staff

    + Prepare classroom materials and maintain an organized, structured learning environment

    + Monitor, assess, and document student academic and functional progress

    + Participate in IEP meetings, reviews, and revisions

    + Collaborate with families, administrators, social workers, and related service providers

    + Support and supervise paraprofessionals and instructional aides

    + Assist students with life skills, transitions, and independence goals

    + Maintain accurate records in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements

    + Adhere to professional standards, confidentiality requirements, and district policies

    Minimum Requirements

    + Valid Moderate/Severe (Mod/Severe) Education Specialist Credential — REQUIRED

    + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred)

    + Valid state teaching credential as required by district or contract

    + Preferred certifications:

    + Standard Elementary Teaching

    + Standard Secondary Teaching

    + Special Education Teaching Credential

    + Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) Endorsement

    + Minimum of one year of classroom teaching experience (preferred)

    + Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations

    + CPR certification (if required)

    + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (as applicable)

    + Current health certificate (per state or contract requirements)

    + Completion of agency onboarding or competency requirements

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills (English proficiency required)

    + Basic computer proficiency

    + Must be at least 18 years of age
