    Position Overview

    Seeking a Special Education Teacher (LBS1) for a non-traditional elementary float role. This position is designed to provide instructional support, supervision, and scheduled relief coverage rather than managing a permanent classroom or caseload.

     

    The Special Education Teacher will work closely with a team of three paraprofessionals to support students with higher needs and assist the school’s special education staff by providing built-in planning coverage.

     

    Students at Hometown Elementary are lower functioning, and this role focuses on support, structure, and engagement within general education elective settings.

     

    Caseload & Daily Structure

     

    + No assigned classroom or permanent caseload

    + Supports four Special Education Teachers onsite

    + Weekly Breakdown:

    + 4 days per week:

    + 1 hour per day relieving a Special Education Teacher and their paraprofessionals so they may plan for the week

    + 5th day:

    + That same Special Education Teacher and paraprofessionals receive an additional hour of planning time

    + Remaining time is spent:

    + Supporting and overseeing students in PE, Music, and Art

    + Assisting students during general education electives

     

    Classroom Support

     

    + Daily collaboration with a dedicated team of 3 paraprofessionals

    Key Responsibilities

    + Provide structured support to elementary students with special needs

    + Supervise and assist students during PE, Music, and Art classes

    + Collaborate with paraprofessionals and Special Education Teachers

    + Ensure student safety, engagement, and positive behavior support

    + Maintain compliance with district and special education guidelines

     

    Break Information

     

    + 30-minute break (paid/unpaid per district policy)

     

    Interview Process

    + Virtual first-round interviews available if needed
