**Pay Range:** $50.68 - $75.51 per hour

Summary:
The Interface Architect Engineer at Rush University System for Health plays a key role in analyzing, creating, implementing, and optimizing integration solutions utilizing various middle platforms. By ensuring seamless data exchange across diverse healthcare systems, this position helps improve patient care, operational efficiency, financial success, and compliance with industry standards. This individual bridges the gap between technology and healthcare operations as well as business workflows, developing architecture for message exchanges across the application suite.

Required Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 6yrs experience. An Associate’s degree and 10yrs experience may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in healthcare IT, with a focus on interface architecture and integration
• Technical expertise: Proficiency in integration standards such as HL7, FHIR, JSON experience with APIs and middleware technologies
• Programming Skills: strong knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#, and database management (SQL / NoSQL)
• Project Management: experience with agile methodologies and tools like JIRA or Trello
• Problem solving: ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues within healthcare systems
Preferred Job Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience development with leading middleware platforms: Mulesoft Anypoint, Ensemble Healthshare, or similar platform
• Knowledge of healthcare-specific software like Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
• Certifications in healthcare IT or integration standards (e.g., HL7 Certified Specialist).

Responsibilities:
• Interface Design and Development: Create scalable, secure, and efficient interfaces for healthcare systems, ensuring interoperability between EHRs, clinical applications, financial applications, and external systems.
• Integration Strategy: Develop integration strategies that align with healthcare standards such as HL7, FHIR, XML, JSON, and others.
• System Analysis: Analyze existing systems and workflows to identify integration needs and opportunities for improvement.
• Implementation: Lead the deployment and testing of APIs/ and/or interfaces to ensure data accuracy, compliance, and optimal performance.
• Collaboration: Work closely with System Project Management, stakeholders, including IT teams, healthcare administrators, and vendors, to gather requirements and deliver integration solutions.
• Compliance and Security: Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, and other data protection standards.
• Capacity planning and scalability of platforms (hosted/internal) (Mulesoft Anypoint)
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of interface designs, workflows, and troubleshooting guides.
• Problem Resolution: Address and resolve interface-related issues in real-time to minimize disruptions in healthcare operations.
• Research and Innovation: Stay updated on emerging technologies, tools, and standards in healthcare integration to continuously enhance systems.
