As the Sanitation Operations Manager (Sumter Sanitation), you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services - uninterrupted. Based in The Villages, FL, you’ll be responsible for managing an independent sanitation operation serving a defined service area at The Villages. In this role, you’ll manage a team of approximately 70 staff members operating and fleet of over roughly 25 vehicles. Working with other members of our team you’ll apply knowledge of the principles, methods and tools employed in the general operation of a municipal sanitation business, oversee route management & dispatching, and ensure safe work practices are being adhered to by the team. As the Operations Manager, you’ll investigate operational challenges and direct effective correction procedures to ensure service levels and all other contractual requirements are met as part of your day-to-day duties. Other responsibilities include preparing required reports, review cost variance reports to ensure compliant financial performance, maintain complete recordkeeping, analyze operational metrics (fuel consumption, tonnage collected, route efficiency), perform inspections & audits to determine efficiency of operations, ensure the collection of residential garbage in the field is done in a clean and responsible manner, engage with customers as required to answer questions and minimize customer complaints, respond to any emergencies with prompt remedial actions, promptly respond to any client related concerns, supervise evaluate and train employees. The Operations Manager will be wholly responsible for the successful delivery of the operations.

* Ten (10) plus years of experience in the delivery of municipal sanitation services
* Supervisory experience including provision of work instruction to subordinate staff
* Excellent oral and written communications, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, strong technical problem-solving skills
* Experience with planning, route scheduling and inventory control
* Experience developing and working within an approved budget; specifically tracking costs, adjusting activities to stay on budget, and optimizing labor and materials
* Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
* Experience with DMS and CMMS
* Valid State Driver’s License with no major infractions
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
* Familiarity with Florida-based sanitation regulations
* Knowledge of service level expectations with The Villages® development area
* Knowledge of safe work practices; understanding of challenges associated with FL sanitation operations
* Knowledge of principles of budget preparation and expenditure control
* Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate teams and to respond to emergency situations
* Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the client, the general public, coworkers, elected and appointed officials
