Job Description
Fiberglass technicians are responsible for fabricating fiberglass boat components by applying polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resin. The position requires knowledge of marine fiberglass techniques using epoxy, polyester resins, gelcoat, and fiberglass cloth. This role is detail-oriented and involves crafting, cutting, trimming, sanding, and grinding various surfaces and substrates. A complete understanding of drawings and blueprints is essential to ensure the quality and structural integrity of parts being repaired and fabricated.

Responsibilities
+ Perform structural and cosmetic fiberglass repairs and fabrication using epoxy and polyester resins.
+ Determine the type of resin and catalyst and accurately measure amounts required for saturation and adhesion of material for the application.
+ Apply multiple layers of mat/fiber to surfaces, ensuring adhesion and repeating the process until the desired thickness, contour, and strength are achieved.
+ Hand lay sections of saturated mat or cloth in place on molds, using proper tooling to ensure the correct placement of material.
+ Use brushes, rollers, and squeegees as needed to smooth out air pockets, air bubbles, and wrinkles to achieve full contact and proper adhesion.
+ Safely and properly create a vacuum bag barrier on fabricated parts and operate a vacuum pump to evacuate all air from the fabrication area.
+ Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following the company’s safety policy.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
