Job Description
Join our dynamic sanitation department where you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our production environment. As a Sanitation Worker, you will be responsible for cleaning machinery, disassembling and reassembling machine parts to meet high cleanliness standards. This role requires a mechanical aptitude and experience with lock out tag out procedures is highly preferred. You must be comfortable working at heights and using cleaning products with strong odors.
Responsibilities
+ Sanitize and clean production areas thoroughly, including inside, outside, underneath, and at heights, using chemicals and cleaning tools while wearing appropriate PPEs in warm, moist environments.
+ Evaluate sanitation effectiveness through visual inspection and chemical concentration checks.
+ Perform pre-operational inspections of equipment and document findings accurately.
+ Complete all sanitation documentation and understand the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
+ Participate in incident investigations related to safety, food safety, pest sightings, contaminations, allergen cross contact, non-conformances, complaints, audit findings, etc.
+ Prepare production equipment for cleaning by following proper Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
+ Disassemble, clean, and sanitize all food-processing equipment and storage areas, handle line clean-ups, document clean-ups, enforce safety rules, and monitor cleaning equipment and supplies inventory.
+ Maintain plant cleanliness in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety standards.
+ Adhere to and practice all safety rules, including but not limited to safety, food safety, LOTO, and GMPs.
+ Coordinate supplies, equipment, and contractor support for plant sanitation and pest control.
+ Log and record daily chemical usage accurately.
+ Train employees in sanitation procedures and programs.
+ Foster a team atmosphere by working and communicating well with others.
+ Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area at all times.
+ Ensure safety for themselves and others by checking areas of the line where others are working before starting equipment.
+ Clean equipment entering the washroom per written procedures, ensuring proper dismantling, protection of electrical components, effective cleaning, and reassembly with all guards, bolts, and parts safely replaced.
+ Possess comprehensive knowledge of all dry-cleaning procedures.
+ Operate all applicable classes of Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) with proper training and maintain valid certification.
+ Perform simple mathematical calculations.
+ Work independently and notify supervision of any issues.
+ Perform all other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Mechanical aptitude
+ Experience with lock out tag out procedures
+ Sanitation and cleaning experience
+ Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
+ Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in food production, industrial cleaning, or machine cleaning
+ Ability to work with Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT)
+ Familiarity with janitorial duties and housekeeping in a food manufacturing setting

Work Environment
Work in a loud GMP environment where hair and beard nets are required, along with adherence to other GMP practices. The facility operates with various shifts including weekend shifts. Employees are expected to attend orientation on Thursdays and Fridays. The environment may be hot and requires the use of PPEs when handling cleaning chemicals.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.65 - $20.11/hr.
