    Job Title: Plant Layout Design EngineerJob Description

     

    We are seeking a skilled Plant Layout Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating efficient equipment layout solutions for handling fresh produce, ensuring optimal application of equipment and materials. This role requires collaboration with various teams to finalize project specifications and equipment layouts.

    Responsibilities

    + Design equipment layout solutions for material handling in tipping, washing, treatment, grading, sorting, packing, and palletizing for fresh produce.

    + Review and validate sales layouts to ensure they meet specifications, volumes, and appropriate application of equipment selection and materials.

    + Collaborate closely with sales and engineering teams to develop final project specifications, equipment layouts, and concept evaluations for engineered solutions.

    + Utilize computer-aided design and drafting software to develop designs and details.

    + Employ design validation software as needed.

    + Communicate with customers, vendors, sales engineers, fabrication, assembly, automation, and installation managers regarding project-related work.

    + Investigate new design processes and tools with Product Teams, documenting new processes and procedures as necessary.

    + Communicate project decisions and deliverables with the Project Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, and Project Manager.

    + Promote financial benefits to clients by providing evidence of return on investment.

    + Train and mentor junior staff.

    + Plan and obtain additional work authorizations as required for scope changes.

    + Perform all other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a Technical Field.

    + Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a related field.

    + 2+ years of experience with plant design, material handling conveyors, and food and produce processing and handling equipment, especially in the fresh produce industry.

    + 2-3 years of experience with 2D and 3D design software for design and basic analysis.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.

    + Eligible to obtain a valid passport and possess a valid driver’s license meeting corporate motor vehicle policy requirements.

    + Project management knowledge including cost, schedule, and quality management.

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    + Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn new processes and applications.

    + Self-motivated, innovative, and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

    + Excellent customer service skills with both external and internal customers.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience preferred with optical sorting, traceability, food safety, automation, and mechanical aspects related to the agricultural industry.

    Work Environment

    The position requires working Monday through Friday, 8 hours a day with a flexible start time, but must conclude by 5:30 PM. Occasional travel to customer sites is expected, approximately four times a year, requiring a valid passport for domestic or international travel to Canada or Mexico. The engineering team is a close-knit group seeking someone who can integrate well. This is a customer-facing role.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $70500.00 - $90000.00/yr.
