Our Mission:
Callen-Lorde Community Health Center provides sensitive, quality health care and related services targeted to New York’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities — in all their diversity — regardless of ability to pay. To further this mission, Callen-Lorde promotes health education and wellness, and advocates for LGBTQ+ health issues.
About the Role:
The Vice President of Nursing (VPN) is the senior-most nursing leader at Callen-Lorde, providing strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across all health center sites. The VPN is accountable for the quality, safety, consistency, and effectiveness of nursing services organization-wide and plays a critical role in aligning nursing operations with Callen-Lorde’s mission, values, and patient-centered model of care.
While primarily focused on system-wide strategy, administration, and leadership, the VPN maintains a limited clinical presence as needed to remain connected to frontline workflows and to support staff during periods of operational need.

+ Provide strategic and operational leadership for nursing services across all Callen-Lorde clinical sites, ensuring consistent, high-quality patient care.
+ Develop and implement nursing strategies, policies, and care models aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
+ Oversee nursing operations through site Nursing Directors, optimizing workflows, staffing models, and resource utilization.
+ Lead nursing quality improvement, patient safety, and infection control initiatives; monitor outcomes using data-driven metrics.
+ Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and audit readiness.
+ Collaborate with executive leadership, medical providers, behavioral health, operations, and quality teams to improve care coordination and access.
+ Manage nursing department budgets, staffing plans, and productivity initiatives to support financial sustainability.
+ Serve as a senior clinical resource and maintain limited clinical involvement as needed to support staff and operations.
+ Supervise, mentor, and support nursing leadership and staff; oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, and staff development.
+ Participate in on-call coverage, Administrator on Duty rotation, and represent Callen-Lorde in professional forums as needed.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with evening hours.
Benefits:
Salary will be based on experience and will be accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package including an exceptional low cost medical plan option for you, your spouse/domestic partner and/or your family, dental insurance, vision insurance, no cost life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, Flexible Spending Account, Tuition Assistance, commuter benefits, a generous paid time off plan, and a 403B retirement savings plan.
