    Special Education Teacher – Life Skills (2 Openings)

     

    $48/hr | Saguin, TX | Onsite | Spring Semester

    Position Overview

    The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality instructional services to special education students in kindergarten through grade 12. This role requires a strong commitment to collaborative team participation in the planning and implementation of individualized student programs, including special instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation with general education staff. The position primarily supports students in Life Skills classrooms with varying levels of academic, social, and functional needs.

    Assignment Details

    + Location: Saguin, TX

    + Start Date: ASAP (estimated January 27, 2026)

    + End Date: May 21, 2026

    + Duration: Spring semester (18 weeks)

    + Schedule:

    + Elementary: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM

    + Secondary: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

    + Hours: 40 hours per week

    + Pay Rate: $48 per hour

    + Modality: Onsite

    + Travel: N/A

    + Positions Available: 2

    Caseload & Classroom Details

    + Grade Levels: Elementary, Middle School, and High School (vacancies across all levels)

    + Classroom Type: Life Skills / Self-Contained

    + Caseload Size: Approximately 8–12 students

    + Student-to-Staff Ratio:

    + 1:3 in Life Skills settings

    + 1:1 support provided when designated

    + Support Staff: Paraprofessionals, Behavior Technicians, and Nurses

    Primary Responsibilities

    + Provide learning activities and instructional experiences that support students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development, tailored to individual ability levels

    + Deliver instruction in Life Skills classroom settings through individual and small-group formats

    + Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly

    + Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff

    + Support students through group and 1:1 instruction alongside paraprofessional and clinical staff

    Minimum Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred

    + Valid state teaching certificate as required by state and contract regulations

    + Minimum of one year of teaching experience preferred

    + State Teacher Certification (one or more may apply):

    + Standard Elementary Teaching (preferred)

    + Standard Secondary Teaching (preferred)

    + Standard Special Teaching (preferred)

    + Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

    + High School placements: General Education EC–12 certification required

    + Elementary placements: Special Education EC–6 certification required

    + Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice

    + CPR certification if applicable

    + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray per requirements

    + Current health certificate per state or contract regulations

    + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

    + Must be at least 18 years of age
