This role manages test strategy, lab operations, cross-functional coordination, and supplier testing activities, driving data driven‑ decisions to reduce field failures and improve product robustness. The successful candidate will inherit a small existing team and projects, requiring the manager to both grow the team and provide technical guidance.

    Core Job Responsibilities:

+ Define and implement reliability test strategies (accelerated life testing, HALT/HASS, thermal/thermal cycling, vibration, shock, electrical stress).

+ Develop test protocols, acceptance criteria, and test schedules aligned with product requirements and regulatory standards.

+ Lead, mentor, and resource-manage a team of test engineers, technicians, and lab staff.

+ Oversee lab operations: equipment selection, calibration, capacity planning, maintenance, and safety/compliance.

+ Coordinate cross-functional test campaigns with design, manufacturing, quality, and field service teams.

+ Manage external test labs and suppliers — vendor selection, test specifications, contract oversight, and result validation.

+ Work with Design for Reliability and core design teams to analyze test data, interpret failure modes, and drive corrective/preventive actions using root cause methods (FMEA, 8D, DMAIC).

+ Maintain test documentation and ensure traceability: test plans, reports, data logs, and change records.

+ Monitor and review metrics and reporting for reliability performance, present insights into engineering leadership and stakeholders.

+ Drive continuous improvement of test methods, automation, and data analytics to increase throughput and reduce test cycle times.

+ Lead and participate in refining the reliability and testing related processes.

+ Hands-on experience with environmental and life test methods (thermal, vibration, shock, humidity, life-cycle tests).

+ Strong knowledge of reliability engineering tools and failure analysis (FMEA, Weibull analysis, root cause techniques).

+ Proven experience managing test labs, equipment procurement/calibration, and external testing vendors.

+ Excellent data analysis skills; familiarity with statistical software and test data systems.

+ Strong communication skills and experience coordinating cross-functional teams.

    Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience:

+ Product development experience with at least two products, preferably medical devices, from concept to launch
