    Lecturer - Construction Management or Architecture (Construction Management & Civil Engineering)

    FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

    New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college offering associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a Lecturer in the department of Construction Management and Civil Engineering Technology, to begin in fall 2025. This position leads to a certificate of continuous employment (CCE). The campus is convenient to NYC’s subway system and within walking distance of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge, which provides easy access to NYC’s booming construction sector with ample opportunities for collaborations. As a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and Asian American/Native American Pacific Island Serving Institution (AANAPISI), City Tech is committed to providing broad access to high quality technological and professional education for a diverse urban population.

     

    The Department of Construction Management and Civil Engineering Technology (CMCE) is a growing department with over 500 students. It is the only department to offer a bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering Technology in CUNY and is ABET accredited. The department also offers associate degree programs in Civil Engineering Technology (ABET accredited) and Construction Management Technology.

     

    Reporting to the chairperson of the Department of Construction Management and Civil Engineering Technology, the position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching, demonstrating strong knowledge of and expertise in construction management-related topics. Areas may include but are not limited to: surveying, transportation, drafting, or construction management.

     

    The position also requires sustained service to the department, college and university, and academic advisement. Contributions to committee work is are expected, as well as other department, college, university and/or community service. The Lecturer will be expected to support the engagement and learning of a diverse student body, participate actively in college/university-wide initiatives, and function collaboratively in department level efforts. The faculty member will play an active role in the creation, development, and assessment of department curricula; and in maintaining the academic vitality of the department.

     

    Day, evening, and weekend teaching and department duties may be required.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related area of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline **or** licensure as a professional engineer or registered architect is strongly preferred.

    + An extensive history of professional experience in the industry is highly desirable.

    COMPENSATION

    $69,983 - $88,998. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

     

    CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/2026, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
