Overview

Reporting directly to the Camp Coordinator, the Counselor is responsible for the supervision of the children enrolled in the Kids Summer Adventure program.

This is a seasonal position running from 6/26/25-8/1/15. Monday through Friday - 35 hours/week

Responsibilities

+ Supervise and lead activites/games during the program.

+ Uphold program policies and rules.

+ Ensure children are on time for all activities.

+ Monitor children at all times.

+ Report any health or emotion problems observed in children to Corps Officers.

+ Attend any staff meetings.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

+ High school diploma/GED required with 2 years related experience

+ Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

+ Ability to work independently and exercise initiative

+ Ability to take charge and motivate others

+ Ability to work with a wide variety of ages and demographic groups

+ Ability to observe camper behavior, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures and respond appropriately

+ Must have enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self control

+ College students/graduates with previous camp/childcare experience preferred

+ Valid NY State Driver License that meets The Salvation Army’s insurance requirements

+ Professionally and ethically represent The Salvation Army and its mission to the staff, families, and community
