Responsibilities
Provides medication management services in coordination with other health care professionals to deliver safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapy to patients. Responsibilities may include assessment of medication therapy regimens, medication therapy management, medication order verification/entry, medication distribution, medication therapy monitoring, and consultation, documentation of medication therapy plans, and medication use education and pharmaceutical care services. Participates in collaborative practice and/or protocol-driven practice as appropriate. Additionally, pharmacists are active members in quality improvement, research activities, and education as described in the job specific competencies.

Nearly 250 pharmacy staff attained academic rank in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and are being increasingly recognized on regional, national, and international stages. Our department’s pharmacy residency has been accredited by ASHP since 1973. It has grown to become the primary training site for 21 pharmacy residents including 15 various specialty residencies, 12 longitudinal local pharmacy students, and 9 pharmacy summer interns from around the country. Our staff also regularly interface with and educate medical trainees including physician residents and fellows.
This 1.0 FTE pharmacist position supports inpatient neurology and psychiatry patients at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus in Rochester, MN. In this role, the pharmacist will function as a member of the multidisciplinary team, with a greater focus on neurology and neurosurgery patients. The schedule consists of a mix of day and evening shifts and every 3rd weekend rotational model.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
+ Graduate of an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
Additional Qualifications
+ Previous experience including PGY1 plus 1 year experience in neurology clinical practice or equivalent experience of 3 years in neurology clinical practice
+ Evidence of ongoing scholarly pursuits including research/quality improvement, publications, or scientific presentations
+ Relevant applicable pharmacy experience working in a progressive and collaborative practice environment
+ Experience in teaching and/or precepting
+ Commitment to excellence, accuracy, attention to detail and teamwork required. Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, organizes time well, practice with an agile mindset, solve problems, and work independently with minimal supervision required.
License and Certification
+ State License Required: Minnesota Pharmacist license by the MN Board of Pharmacy, or eligible to obtain within a time frame compliant with the site’s applicable employee licensure policy. May not independently fulfill responsibilities reserved only to a pharmacist until license is obtained.
+ Preferred Certification: BCPS within one year of hire, if not already present
