Scope of Job
The Graduate Assistant (GA) for Student Accessibility Services ( SAS ) will work as a member of the SAS team to coordinate and oversee peer mentor support including assisting with training of mentors, monitoring mentor progress, and collecting data. Additionally, the GA will provide case management to students registered with SAS , supervise practicum students and interns, and fulfill other duties as assigned regarding their program’s direct/indirect training hours.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
The Graduate Assistant must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong time management and organizational skills, and be self-motivated to take initiative to demonstrate progress. Must have the ability to work independently and in teams, as well as display strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills to meet the demands of case management. Prior experience with peer mentoring, sharing presentations, and providing training is valued.
Computer literacy (e.g., proficient in Microsoft Windows, Teams, PowerPoints, Zoom or other video communications, Excel database management, word processing, spreadsheet manipulation, desktop publishing) is required.
The Graduate Assistant will become proficient in the records management software utilized by Student Accessibility Services (mySAS/ AIM ) and adhere to confidentiality guidelines. Prior experience with and/or an interest in assistive technology to promote accessibility is valued. This position may require assisting SAS staff on other office tasks as needed.
Requirements:
• Currently admitted to the Graduate College.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with young adults with disabilities, leading social skill development groups, and/or mentoring as related to such skills as time management/organization, self-advocacy, communication, self-care, and stress management.
