Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) is seeking a detail-oriented Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately preparing and distributing medications, managing drug inventory through proper ordering and stock rotation, and maintaining comprehensive patient records and documentation. Key duties include filling physician orders, preparing sterile IV admixtures, delivering medications throughout the facility, entering orders into our computer system, and ensuring all pharmacy areas remain clean and organized.
Key Responsibilities:
+ **Medication Preparation & Distribution** - Fill physician orders, prepare IV admixtures and sterile products, replenish emergency crash carts and floor stock, and deliver medications to patient care areas according to established schedules and protocols
+ **Inventory & Stock Management** - Order, receive, and store pharmaceuticals and supplies, rotate stock to prevent expiration, identify and replace outdated drugs, prepackage bulk medications, and manage returns to maximize manufacturer credits
+ **Administrative Operations & Documentation** - Enter medication orders and billing information into computer systems, generate required reports and labels, maintain accurate logs and records, complete monthly inspections, and provide telephone support and customer service
Qualifications:
+ **Certification Required** - Current certification from the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and commitment to maintaining certification through continuing education
+ **Technical Skills** - Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems, medication dispensing equipment, and sterile compounding techniques including IV admixture preparation in clean room environments
+ **Knowledge Base** - Strong understanding of pharmaceutical terminology, medication dosing, drug storage requirements, inventory management principles, and pharmacy safety protocols and procedures
+ **Communication & Organizational Skills** - Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, strong attention to detail for accurate record-keeping, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and professional phone etiquette for patient and healthcare provider interactions
