    Responsibilities:

    + Transfers and positions patients. Accurately positions and moves patients for diagnostic images.Provides immobilizing devices as required. Utilizes protective safety devices when needed for quality imaging.Selects and operates equipment as directed. Has knowledge of equipment and how to utilize properly.Develops films by laser processing. Has knowledge to develop films as needed.Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.Assists the authorized physician and Radiation Safety Officer in the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals to patients.Is responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures, including therapeutic treatments, for benign disease.Is responsible for performing radionuclide procedures on patients inclusive of organ imaging, function studies, and assisting the physician in the therapeutic use of radioisotopes under prescribed safety conditions.In the absence of the supervisor, may be designated as acting supervisor.Assists in performing first aid, as necessary. Knowledge of CPR required as well as emergency procedures.Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination. Follows sterile technique guidelines.Prepares solution, materials, and instruments for sterilization. Prepares all doses, items, and equipment as sterile environment. Assists in preparing radioactive tracer compounds for patient use. Prepares needed doses per exam request, physician orders, patient age, weight, and diagnosis.

    + Assists in equipment calibration and radioisotope assay operations. Assures equipment in proper operational order.Complies with established occupational BBF and TB exposure policies.Acquires and maintains skill level in venipuncture therapy in accordance with Department policy.Maintains adequate records of radioisotope receipt, use, storage, and disposal in accordance with state and federal regulations governing the accountability for radioactive materials. Maintains other records as directed.PET/CT Nuclear Medicine technologist is responsible for ordering, calibrating and administration of radiopharmaceutical following DEP regulations along with giving patient preparation and instructions before and after completion of scan as well as obtaining adequate history. Also, must work as a team with CT scan staff in obtaining the best patient diagnostic scan possible. NM staff is required to test glucose levels on PET/CT patient's pre and post scan.Supports department and hospital-based CPI activities by actively participating in the CPI process.Use of PACS. Has knowledge of the hospital PACS system, to review and acquire current and previous images. Use of the Radiology Information System. Has knowledge in performing the tasks of scanning documents, interactive documents, able to charge, revise, and add procedures.

    Education and Formal Training Required:

    High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of accredited Nuclear Medicine Tech program required. ARRT(N) or CNMT registry or within 12 months of hire.

    Experience:

    2 Years nuclear medicine experience required.

     

    Must successfully complete and maintain venipuncture therapy skills in accordance with department policy. Must possess manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Must be able to adapt to all types of conditions of patients.

     

    Must have basic life support education and training and possess a recent card as proof of.

     

    Be familiar with adding of supplies, correct procedures, correct patient identification, and correct patient access numbers, beginning to end procedures prior to sending to radiologist for final read. Become familiar with federal and or state agency requirements and if incident occurs know who is to be notified. Rotate as needed, between areas of Nuclear Medicine and or where need exists work as a team for patient needs and satisfaction. Assist with education of other allied health students, interns etc. Be supportive on assisting Supervisor with scheduling, departmental needs, various committees, changes etc.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

     

    + ARRT Certificate OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC)

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

    + Act 33 with renewal

    + Act 34 with renewal

    + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
