This job is for an Associate Engineering position in the Olefins Technology Group in one of the largest naphtha crackers in the world. This group was formed to support plant operations, support capital projects, and to be a long-term knowledge database of cracker technology and know-how. Opportunities for long-term career advancement and many interesting challenges exist within the group. Process engineering support for capital project scope development (material and energy balances, PFD's, P&ID's, specification sheets, equipment sizing, etc.).
As a Engineering Associate, you create chemistry by...
+ Operating unit support and troubleshooting for process upsets and problems.
+ Performing and maintaining PSV calculations.
+ Developing and/or maintaining process simulations for the operating units (Aspen Plus, BJAC, Flarenet, etc.).
+ Developing or maintaining a database detailing the site’s use of different reactor catalysts, selectivity, troubleshooting, normal operating conditions as well as startup / shutdown activities, and associated poisons to avoid.
+ Performing environmental/regulatory calculations.
+ Participating in safety/process audits.
+ Developing and supporting process optimization efforts.
+ Participating and/or leading workgroups assigned to solving problems in the plant.
+ Finding and implementing new technologies in the plant.
If you have...
+ BS degree in Chemical Engineering.
+ Minimum of 10+ years of experience, preferably in process design/ optimization/ operations in petrochemical and/or associated units (olefins, aromatic extraction, metathesis, alkylation).
+ Knowledge of PSM systems and best practices.
+ Knowledge in unit operations process design (heat exchangers, distillation, extraction, reactors, cooling towers, etc.).
+ Knowledge in the use of Computer Aided Process engineering applications (Aspen Plus, Flarenet, Pro II, etc.).
+ Strong understanding of Process Safety Concepts and their applications.
+ Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, API, ASME and other applicable codes and regulations.
