Job Summary

This position is responsible for the effective coordination, development and implementation of the CPNPP Fire Protection Program requirements to ensure compliance with regulations, industry and site standards.

Job Description

Responsible for ensuring that Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant maintains compliance with regulatory commitments, NEIL Loss Control Standards, associated NFPA Codes and Standards and site procedures.

O** **versee the station’s compliance with transient combustible, ignition source and fire watch programs.

Ensure that impairments of fire protection systems/equipment receive appropriate compensatory measures through the Impairment Process.

Coordinate vendor contracts for fire protection services.

M** **aintain procedures associated with the Fire Protection Program, including fire pre-plans for firefighting.

Provide information, guidance and assistance to any department responsible for implementing the fire protection program.

Assist in developing risk management actions for on-line and outage fire risk mitigation.

Coordinate the maintenance of fire brigade equipment

Develop, schedule, conduct, and critique Fire Brigade drills to ensure fire-fighting practices meet industry levels of excellence.

Line review and approval of the Fire Protection Training Program and materials.

Participate as an ERO member and respond to call-ins.

Must be willing to work overtime, shift work and accept callouts as required.

Education, Experience, and Skill** **Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science or related field with 1 to 2 years’ work-related experience in fire protection, inspection and/or code compliance** **OR** **High School Diploma/GED with 5-years of work-related experience in fire protection, inspection and/or code compliance at a nuclear power plant.

Education, Experience, and Skills Desired:

Experience in fire protection at a nuclear power plant a plus

Experience with the work management systems a plus

Experience in a leadership or supervisory role at a nuclear power plant or municipal fire department a plus

NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) or Texas Commission on Fire Protection Fire Inspector a plus (the selected candidate will have 18 months to acquire either certification)

Key Metrics

A** **bility to maintain knowledge of the requirements of the Fire Protection Program and the impact to CPNPP.

A** **bility to maintain industry involvement related to fire protection.

A** **bility to investigate, complete and report site fire incident reports in accordance with CPNPP and related Vistra Fleet procedures

Ability to interact with Engineering, Operations, Training, Maintenance and Security to ensure plant activities and modifications do not compromise fire protection standards and fire-fighting requirements

Ability to support fire brigade training.
