•** **Schedule

Enjoy a rotating schedule with varied shifts, including:

+ 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM

+ 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

+ 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM

+ 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM Weekend and holiday coverage will also be required on a rotation, from 7am-3:30pm and call.

•** **About the Role

As a **Sterile Processing Technician** , you’ll play a **critical role in patient care** by ensuring that every surgical instrument and piece of equipment is safe, sterile, and ready for use. Your work helps protect patients and empowers providers to deliver the highest quality care.

•** **What You’ll Do

+ 🧺 Assemble and prepare instrument sets and trays for sterilization

+ 🔍 Inspect and test instruments for cleanliness, sharpness, and proper function

+ 🧼 Decontaminate, disinfect, and thoroughly clean medical supplies and equipment

+ 📦 Distribute sterile instruments and equipment to clinical areas

+ 📊 Monitor inventory and ensure adequate supply levels

+ 🛠️ Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, performing minor repairs or reporting larger issues

+ 🩺 Reprocess and maintain endoscopes following all safety and manufacturer guidelines

+ 📝 Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and records

+ 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Communicate effectively with clinical teams to support safe patient care

•** **Qualifications

Education

+ None required (if other position qualifications are met)

Licensure/Certification

+ Not required

Experience

+ No prior experience required

+ _UNC Medical Center or Rex Hospital only:_ Nine (9) months sterile processing experience required unless you’ve completed a sterile processing program

+ Graduation from a sterile processing school may substitute for experience

Preferred

+ Sterile processing experience is strongly preferred
