    General Summary Statement

     

    Responsible for all aspects of acute care occupational therapy including staff development, scheduling, appraisals, orientations, and physician and customer satisfaction.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     
     

    1. Review and Maintain the mission and vision of the program;

    2. Assist in the development and / or update of the strategic plan for the program within the departments full strategic plan;

    3. Establish goals to achieve the above strategic plan for the program;

    4. Assist in the budget development and maintenance of the program.

     

    II.** **Operational Oversight and Staff Development

     

    1. Requirements for the staff to participate and to continue within the program. This should include yearly education requirements to remain up-to-date in the evidence based research pertaining to patient care, and with operational information pertinent to the administrative running of the program;

    2. Activities pertaining to the program, including any committee meetings, staff scheduling, yearly appraisals, orientation, and administrative disciplinary actions;

    3. Sub-specialty Leads will need to assist with marketing efforts for the program to area physicians, community entities, and to update our CCH staff;

    4. Sub-specialty Leads will need to maintain scheduling for the above marketing and community activities which may include presentations

    5. The Lead will also be responsible to make sure patient service to the ED is maintained on an as requested level.

    III. Patient Care

    1. Complete evaluations then develop and implement or supervise the daily plan of care and clinical treatments.

    2. Instructs patients, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program.

    3. Instruct, motivate, safeguard and assist patients as they practice exercises and functional activities.

    4. Confer with physical therapy staff or others to discuss and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment.

    5. Observe patients during treatments to compile and evaluate data on patients' responses and progress.

    6. Secure patients into or onto therapy equipment.

    7. Maintains appropriate and timely documentation in all patients treated electronic medical record.

    8. Monitor support personnel (therapy assistants, students and volunteers)

    9. Maintain Department & Health System Competencies.

    10. Maintain licensure and educational requirements as mandated by PA Board of Examiners.

     

    Education Training and Experience

     

    Graduate of a Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degree curriculum in Occupational Therapy accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.

     

    Minimum of 1 year Acute Care Experience

     

    Knowledge of Universal Precaution Procedures

     

    Excellent Communication and Customer Service Skills

     

    Licensure/Certification

     

    Current Pennsylvania State license.

     

    CPR certification required

     

    Preferred

     

    National Occupational Therapy Examination (NBCOT)

     

    Professional Association Certifications Preferred
