MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Cloud Engineer Principal, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of supporting data scientists in developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) proof-of-concepts. You will play a crucial role in growing GDIT's AI capabilities and business opportunities.

Lead the architecture, implementation, and optimization of AWS infrastructure to support innovative AI workloads, ensuring high availability and compliance.

Collaborate with data scientists, security teams, and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable cloud environments using best-practice DevSecOps methodologies.

Drive cost optimization, security compliance, and operational excellence through automation, mentoring junior engineers, and fostering innovation in a small, agile team.

Utilize AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, ECS, EKS, Lambda, Bedrock, SageMaker, OpenSearch, ECR, DynamoDB, RDS, VPC), CloudFormation, Linux, Bash/Python scripting, Docker, Kubernetes, and Git.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science

Experience: 8+ years of related experience

Technical skills: Must have advanced proficiency in Linux OS, Bash/Python scripting, CloudFormation, networking, automation, Git, Docker, and Kubernetes; extensive experience with AWS services including IAM, S3, Route53, EC2, ECS, EKS, ECR, Lambda, Bedrock, SageMaker, CloudWatch, DynamoDB, RDS, and VPC.

Role requirements: Proven leadership in small, agile teams using Kanban and Agile methodologies; expertise in designing IAM policies, and security groups; experience with cost optimization (e.g., rightsizing resources, automating shutdowns); ability to create and standardize Confluence documentation, including architecture diagrams using Draw.io or Visio; strong communication skills for mentoring and collaborating with data scientists and security teams; AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional) highly desired.

The likely salary range for this position is $144,410 - $195,378. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

GDIT typically provides new employees with 15 days of paid leave per calendar year to be used for vacations, personal business, and illness and an additional 10 paid holidays per year. Paid leave and paid holidays are prorated based on the employee’s date of hire. The GDIT Paid Family Leave program provides a total of up to 160 hours of paid leave in a rolling 12 month period for eligible employees.
