+ 4 years of experience with mission critical facilities or data centers.
+ 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
+ 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
+ 4 years of experience working in data centers and building out infrastructure.
+ 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
+ 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
+ Experience in computer systems including software architecture and algorithm optimizations.

Data Center Orchestration is responsible for coordinating and executing the physical processes in response to requested data center changes by sequencing the necessary operations and executing the optimized sequence. In a nutshell, if hardware is running in a Google data center, it was deployed by Data Center Orchestration's software.
The Department of Means owns the core actions/capabilities for Data Center Orchestration, including initial placement and configuration of hardware, inventory and tracking, and QA processes necessary for hardware to be handed off to product areas for active service.
Our Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the
hardware and software technologies that power all of Google's services. Our computational challenges are complex and unique, enabled by cutting-edge custom hardware designed and made in-house. As a hardware engineer, you will design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You will see those systems from concept all the way through to high-volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers, affecting millions of Google users.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
+ Establish and maintain a long-term architectural direction and strategy aligned with business objectives and priorities. Be the decider for technical disagreements between subteams, and help set team priorities.
+ Establish and maintain a roadmap of engineering excellence work to continually improve the efficacy of the team and health of the system/ecosystem. Ensure the long-term sustainability of technical choices, making pragmatic trade-offs allowing meeting commitments effectively both in the short and long-term.
+ Deliver high-quality individual design and coding contributions in the most challenging areas of team responsibility.
+ Represent the team in broader technical forums, bringing back and disseminating information as useful, and advocating for team technical positions with partner teams and stakeholders.
+ Mentor and grow more junior team members, especially the subteam TLs.
