The Opportunity
We are hiring a **Senior Staff Product Manager to lead Platform Security** — defining and driving the core security primitives that power Splunk’s platform, cloud services, and AI future. This role owns product strategy and execution for PKI, certificate lifecycle automation, TLS and cryptographic upgrades, FIPS compliance, secrets management, and secure service identity for a multi-billion-dollar product portfolio.
You will drive the next generation of Splunk’s secure foundation — ensuring every workload, every customer action, and every AI agent at Splunk is backed by strong identity hardened cryptography, and secure-by-default design. You will also lead security direction for **AI agent workloads** **and runtime environments** , ensuring safe credentials, isolation-ed boundaries, encrypted inter-agent communication, and trust-anchored execution models as Splunk scales into distributed automation and agentic decisioning.
This is a pivotal role for Splunk’s future. You will act as the product authority and single-threaded owner working across engineering, architecture, and product leadership to deliver crypto-resilient infrastructure that customers rely on every second of every day.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and maintain a multi-year roadmap for Platform Security capabilities including certificate lifecycle management, PKI infrastructure, secrets management, token security, and cryptographic compliance (FIPS 140-3, TLS modernization).
+ Lead product strategy for secure-by-default platform foundations, including certificate authority enablement, key management systems, secure bootstrapping, and encrypted data-in-transit/at-rest standards across Splunk products.
+ Partner closely with engineering, architecture, compliance, and product teams to deliver security-critical outcomes tied to regulatory requirements, customer needs, and Cisco-Splunk integration.
+ Drive execution from concept to GA — translating security requirements into product features, guiding implementation tradeoffs, and ensuring scalable, operable, and audit-ready security systems.
+ Influence internal partners and customers through clear RFCs, technical proposals, risk-impact evaluations, and roadmap presentations to align execution across distributed product teams.
+ Champion a security-first culture passionate about resilience, crypto-agility, measurable hardening of the platform, and continuous improvement of secrets, certificates, and machine identity posture.
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD in Computer Science, Security Engineering, or equivalent experience — with demonstrated depth in cryptographic or distributed security systems.
+ **7+ years** experience in Product Management or Technical Product Leadership within enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, or security foundations.
+ Recognized expertise in platform security — consistent record owning and scaling capabilities such as PKI systems, certificate lifecycle automation, CA/RA service design, HSM/KMS integration, mTLS, token/secret governance.
+ Hands-on experience driving cryptographic modernization at scale — including TLS upgrades, OpenSSL migrations, FIPS 140-2/140-3 compliance, deprecation of legacy cipher suites, and crypto-agility planning across large product surfaces.
+ Drive the security strategy for AI agent workloads and runtime environments — ensuring secure credential handling, secrets isolation, encrypted agent-to-agent communication, certificate-backed identity, and hardened execution surfaces for AI-driven automation.
+ Proven ability to influence technical direction and security standards across multiple product organizations, with a history of defining frameworks, policies, and architectural principles — not just completing them.
+ Outstanding written and verbal communication — skilled at producing high-clarity PRFAQs, technical narratives, risk justifications, and roadmap proposals to drive alignment from engineering teams to EVP/SVP audiences.
+ Background with Splunk, large distributed control planes, high-scale authentication trust chains, or security-sensitive enterprise products is **strongly preferred** .
