Job Summary and Qualifications
The PLC Lead EMT is responsible for the facilitation of medical transportation for all inter/intra and third-party resources including ground and air transfers, transport, and placement of patients for all HCA facilities within the markets served. The position collects clinical information relative to a patient movement requests and facilitates the patient's movement by matching the patient's clinical needs to the appropriate resource with capability. The Lead TCC will collaborate with other areas of the PLC and facilities regarding patient needs for medical transportation. This position will use customer service skills and professional communication standards to positively interact with peers, customers, and supervisors. Works with Assistant Clinical Nurse Manager and Manager of Operations to assist with the oversight off work flows, preferred ambulance providers, maintaining SharePoint sites, staff schedules, rounding, and problem-solving.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Functions as both the Lead Dispatcher and CDT agent when delegated as such.
+ Provides administration of all aspects of the TCC department in order to ensure organizational mission and objectives are met.
+ Assists in hiring and maintaining appropriate staffing levels and utilization of personnel and ensure the highest quality of professional skill.
+ Works closely with the Assistant Nurse Manager and Manager of Operations to collect, correlate, analyze and interpret operational data to better support staffing and PLC needs.
+ Performs all transfer center functions, including centralized patient placement, in a timely, customer
+ centered professional manner with the aid of a computer database consisting of facility service profiles approved clinical protocols, established patient care protocols, and healthcare information.
+ Transports coordination specific to the transfer of patients and discharges from HCA facilities.
+ Coordinates transfer of emergent, urgent and elective patients to a final destination facility from all potential referral sources to include but not limited to hospitals, clinics, post-acute centers, and physician offices via a telephone call to initiate acceptance and expedite decision making relative to a potential transfer.
+ Follows specific protocols, policies, procedures, and utilize established resources to safely place patients at facilities.
+ Works collaboratively with team members ensuring appropriate patient transportation..
+ Establishes and maintains a high degree of awareness and knowledge of hospitals' medical staff, services, and special programs.
+ Exhibits and models exceptional customer relationship behaviors, including telephone and personal contact with all of the call center' customer groups (i.e. physicians and their office staffs, callers, and fellow employees).
+ Maintains professionalism and customer-centric communication with challenging callers.
+ Ensures patient placement functions for timely bed placement, appropriate bed assignment, and to provide accurate patient information to assist with the development of an initial plan of care.
+ Ensures accurate and concurrent data collection and maintenance in both patient record and center workflow systems.
+ Shows proficiency in navigating and documenting in multiple technology platforms and other call and office-oriented systems as needed.
EXPERIENCE
+ Minimum 2 years of clinical or hospital experience
+ required- highly preferred ED and acute hospital experience.
+ Supervisory Experience Preferred.
+ Call Center/Transfer Center experience Preferred
+ EMS or Dispatch Experience Required
EDUCATION
+ Associate Degree or higher preferred.
Certification/Licensure
+ EMT (Emergency Medical Technician Certificate, EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatcher) Certificate Required or approved equivalent
